  aa Clydach Tunnel 28/03/2009
Clydach Tunnel 28/03/2009 On a lovely Spring evening, you could almost hear a Super D wheezing through the Tunnel and labouring out into the sunshine. After 5 miles of 1:40/34/37/38 they would be at walking pace, and they still had Gelli Felen to contend with.

Gelli Felen 28/03/2009 From here you could have heard a Super D leave Clydach Tunnel, crawl up the 1:38 to Gelli Felen Tunnels, then silence, before bursting out of the western portal back on the 1:38 and crawl round to Gelli Felen Halt and on to Brynmawr. Not much fun for the crews, but a fabulous sound and sight.

Gelli Felen 28/03/2009 This is where todays gallery of photographers would be if steam still ran, but somehow I would rather imagine it as it was, imagining the sound of the ghosts of the LNW stalwarts struggling up the bank, without the drone of traffic on the new A465 and hoards of photographers falling over each other to take identical perfect shots.
